Project Updates
January 2016 - Future northbound lanes were opened with traffic shifted to the newly constructed pavement. The old lanes will be removed as weather allows.
March 19, 2015 - For the fourth public meeting, 184 people attended a pre-construction open house to learn about construction phasing and the construction schedule.
January 2015 - The fourth public meeting has been scheduled for Thursday, March 19 at Lincoln's Arnold Elementary School, 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.
October 2, 2014 -

We have news to share on both the north and south segments of this project.

North end: A decision has been made on the north alignment between W. Adams Street and U.S. Highway 34. Alignment Option #4, which traverses between NW 46th and NW 47th streets, has been selected and received the appropriate permitting approval of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. An offset roadway alignment between W. Adams Street and W. Cuming Street received the most public support as determined at the June 2013 public meeting. This alignment was developed based on collaboration with the Corps and was presented to the public at the January 2014 public meeting. Beginning at W. Adams Street, the roadway alignment will curve east to a location approximately 130 feet east of the current NW 47th Street. The alignment will curve back west and tie into the existing NW 48th Street location at approximately W. Cuming Street. The north segment is not scheduled for construction at this time, but preliminary design plans are being prepared. You can see an updated map showing the current proposed north roadway alignment here: file 1 and file 2.

South end: As we shared in 2013, the east option (South Option East) was selected. Right-of-way acquisition is currently underway for this segment, and we anticipate construction will begin in the spring of 2015. Utility relocation for this segment is anticipated to take place starting this fall. Where possible, utilities that are in conflict with the proposed roadway construction are being relocated in advance to shorten the construction duration. You can see updated maps showing the project and proposed right of way here (W. Vine Street to W. Gary Gately Street) and here (W. Gary Gately Street to W. Adams Street).

Thank you to everyone who shared their feedback on each of the alignment options throughout the course of the project’s design. Your feedback was greatly appreciated and is vital to the success of this project.

January 15, 2014 -
For the third public meeting, 157 people attended and learned where the City of Lincoln proposes to acquire additional right-of-way and/or easements to construct the project from W. Vine Street to W. Adams Street. The design team discussed the project and took feedback from members of the public.
December 2013 -
The third public meeting has been scheduled for Wednesday, January 15 at Lincoln’s Arnold Elementary School, 4:30-6:30 p.m.

July 22, 2013 - A decision has been made on the alignment between W. Vine Street and W. Adams Street. The project team will take the east option (South Option East) to final design, and construction is anticipated to begin in 2015. No decision has been made on the alignment between W. Adams Street and U.S. Highway 34 yet; an announcement on the selected alignment for this segment of the project will be made soon following an environmental review meeting with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Thank you to everyone who shared their feedback on all of the alignment options; your feedback was greatly appreciated and is vital to the success of this project.
June 4, 2013 -
For the second public meeting, 153 people attended and shared feedback on the three south options and the three north options proposed for this project.
May 2013 -
Meetings with stakeholders continue as the project team presents the roadway alternatives and asks for feedback.
April 2013 -
The second public meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday, June 4 at Lincoln’s Arnold Elementary School, 4:30-7:30 p.m.
